Wildland Fire Management provides wildland fire suppression on tribal lands along with employment opportunities for Cherokee citizens.
The Fuels program reduces wildland fires in northeastern Oklahoma by controlling and reducing hazardous and overgrown vegetation through thinning and burning. We operate primarily on trust lands, but also with private landowners and cooperators though our Reserved Treaty Rights Land (RTRL) projects.
Our Prevention Program oversees public outreach by visiting schools, community centers, and events to promote fire safety. The Prevention Program also provides adult education to teach landowners best practices for fire safety and land protection.
Wildland Fire Management offers in-house training for all of its firefighters and aids in the training of cooperating firefighting organizations.
