Join us for a week at Habenapo (Clear Lake State Park), in the Tribal ancestral territory of the Big Valley Band of Pomo Indians. This overview week-long training will expose participants to a variety of career options in caretaking our ancestral lands. We will be outside, learning hands-on from Tribal elders, culture keepers, and staff; land stewards; State Parks employees; and each other.

Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Cultural Monitoring

Watershed Health & Water Monitoring

Fuels Reduction

Cultural Fire

Safe tool use

Plant ID

Mapping

Career Development

Additional information:

Course runs 8:30am – 4pm Monday – Friday.

 

  • Must be present for duration of course to receive certification.
  • Small stipends available for Tribal members who attend the full training. $50/day or $200 total.
  • Limited space available. Please apply by August 25th.
  • Open to all Tribal members in Lake County.
