First Nations Development Institute is launching a Natural Resources Professional cohort under the Stewarding Native Lands program.
The goal is to develop conservation leadership skills of 15 young Native natural resource professionals in the Northern Great Plains who are tribal employees to address local natural resource issues and community conservation priorities. To restore Indigenous ecological management practices as well as improve and conserve tribal lands and waters and restore biodiversity and health to grassland ecosystems in keeping with tribal sovereignty and culturally based natural resource management practices.

Duration: 12 months | 1-Year

Selected 15 young natural resource professionals will:
- Gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of traditional stewardship practices that improve and conserve tribal lands and waters.
- Gain meaningful experience in developing and managing projects
- Be able to communicate the importance of upholding tribal sovereignty, cultural grounding, and connection to ancestral lands in natural resources management.
