TITLE: Forestry Aide – contract position (furloughable)
LOCATION: Forestry Department
Ronan, MT
SALARY: $15.10 to $16.61 per hour
CLOSING DATE: Monday, May 5, 2025 @ 5:30 p.m.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This position is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of
the CSKT Drug Testing Policy. The successful applicant, if not already employed
by the Tribes must pass a pre-hire drug test.
DUTIES:
The Forestry Aide is a technical forestry position with responsibility of assisting
timber sale preparation, permit administration and/or forest inventory projects.
• Marks timber with the assistance of a Forestry Technician or Forester.
• Marks the boundaries of cutting units.
• Collects and assists in processing cruise data to determine timber volumes
and values.
• Interprets maps for locating unit and/or road locations.
• Assists in road layout.
• Performs wildlife and prescribed burn duties.
• Checks permit compliance in cordwood yards or in field.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM RECRUITING QUALIFICATIONS AS REFLECTED ON TRIBAL
EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent, post high school education or training in
forestry would be highly desirable.
• A valid state driver’s license is required for vehicle operation. In order to
function as fire overhead, a current red card must be updated and an annual
physical must be submitted.
• A working knowledge of basic math and English.
• Skilled in the use of personal computers and basic forestry equipment tools.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AS DETERMINED THROUGH INTERVIEW AND
PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT REFERENCES:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other
employees and the general public.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to communicate
effectively.
